THE GRANDFATHER PARADOX

Have you ever thought about what would happen if you went to the past and killed your grandfather before him having his children? But that would mean that you couldn't kill your grandfather in the first place as the possibility for your birth will be erased right?  So time travel isn't possible then?

Welcome to the "Grandfather Paradox". This is a logical contradiction which has put a lot of philosophers and modern physicist's arguments against the probability of Time travel. Many early scientists deemed Time travel to be impossible due to the logical inconsistencies arising along with it.
For example: Tim Maudlin, a philosopher at New York University has argued that talking about Time travel is the same as saying "I can't be wet and absolutely dry at the same time". The views about time travel were more or less the same as Tim Maudlin back when the nature of the universe was thought to be "deterministic" meaning that it's predictable.

But many modern physicist's claim that logical contradictions like the Grandfather Paradox doesn't eliminate the probability of Time travel. It is known that the nature of the universe is not deterministic but rather "probabilistic "meaning unpredictable in the subatomic levels. This paved the way for different interpretations for both time travel and the grandfather paradox. Concepts like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle further strengthened the probabilistic views of the universe. This brings in the possibility of multiple outcomes for a single event.

There had been multiple solutions for the Grandfather Paradox but none are regarded as completely reliable solutions to this logical problem which has plagued and will continue to plague the concept of Time travel. In order to understand more about the possibility about Time travel we need to understand the nature of time itself which we can,in another post. Have a nice day.
